One of the Hutt Valleys older suburbs with many of the houses built in the 1920’s and 1930’s. These homes give the area great character and the location south of Waterloo is very popular with both young & old, with the schooling being a key attraction for many living in the area as well as the great access to Hutt city centre and the rail services. The area has numerous schools, shops and parks including Te Whiti Park at the foot of the eastern hills. Adjacent to the park area is also home to the Atiawa Marae and local league club with more oncoming development underway for a local museum and café.
